I can see clearly:
a plan is made for the year and now I know what I want to do with my precious time: what items to make, what activities and interests to follow.
The bright cushion above was made quickly with friends in the little embroidery group I had set up before my house move to Ross-on-Wye. But it’s been too busy a period of settling in and finding new friends to do much textile art lately. However now that I have my 2020 Vision and can see that I must manage my time effectively I’m planning to achieve these aspirations:
Crack on with my level 3 City & Guilds Hand Embroidery course –
Concentrate on embroidery for the new Ross-on-Wye branch of the Embroiderers Guild only established in 2019 and which I joined as Chair in a bid to make new friends –
Unfinished Objects (UFO’s) are banned from my drawers and cupboards and have to be completed eventually. Some take longer than others though. I’m slowly completing, block by block, a Cathedral Window runner for my bedroom to match the colours in the curtains. It’s been in progress for over a year but is gradually taking shape –
Perhaps the most desired project for 2020 and currently ‘on hold’ due to my other more demanding commitments is the linen handbag range. I have started making some with a variety of different finishes in the hope that when our new branch of the Embroiderers Guild organises an exhibition I will have a selection ready to show. The idea is to use all different textile art techniques and finishes to decorate the linen handbags, which themselves become the theme for the various decorations.
so that’s the 2020 Vision, much of it already started but much more to be done. I hope and plan to have something new to show you each month.
