Some people call them Fabric Art Journals. I have made several of these for my own amusement but also to contain pictures on fabric of my family. A cloth book with individual artwork and containing precious bits & pieces is far more interesting and valued than a purchased photo album.
These images show the covers and inside pages of different cloth books using a couple of different techniques. I transfer photos from the computer on to printable fabric which can be sewn to a background, or alternatively to Transfer Artists Paper which can then be ironed on to the chosen fabric. The many experiments that I do are saved for inclusion in these cloth books. Embroidery try-outs and practice pieces for my textile art. All sorts of pretty objects come in useful as the pages are decorated. Buttons and beads as well as small tassels, lace, ribbon and appliques.
My plan is to create another one soon with photos of my grandchildren. I hope to record what I do as I go along and will then put a tutorial on here.
Currently the house I bought last year is undergoing lots of updating and change. this has delayed my ambitions to regularly record different fabric art projects and results. All things being equal I trust that I can soon spend more time on my lovely hobby and hope to share with you some of that enjoyment.
